Tara Hall Home for Boys will host the 2nd Annual Tara Hall Paddle Fest Fundraiser on June 15, 2013. Paddle Fest is a family oriented day on the river.

Kayaking participants will launch their kayaks and canoes at 10:00 a.m. on the beautiful
Black Mingo Creek and paddle to Tara Hall Home for Boys. At 10:00 a.m. Tara Hall will
open up the campus for non kayaker to come in. Once at the campus, they will join
everyone else to enjoy bluegrass jam sessions, games, a redneck barrel race, a pileau dinner, door prizes, lots of fun for all.

The trip is expected to take about 3 hours. Paddlers will compete in the fun run, which
involves stopping at different stations along the paddle route. Once paddlers arrive at Tara
Hall, names will be drawn to determine the winners of a new kayak.

Two grand prizes will be awarded to winners in different categories: children ages 8-16,
and adults 17 years old and older.

“This is truly going to be a great event. We’re very grateful for the positive response we’ve
already gained through last years and again this year sponsorships from the communities
surrounding Tara Hall,” Tara Hall assistant director Patsy Morris said.

Tara Hall is situated in the Rose Hill section of Georgetown County and not far away from
Williamsburg and Florence counties.

River Rats Canoe Rentals from Scranton, S.C. will offer limited kayak and canoe rentals
available for an added price.

Pontoon rides will be available for those who want to get on the water but don’t want to
paddle. Registration is the same price as someone paddling without a boat rental.

Those who don’t want to get on the water but still want to enjoy the festivities and support
Tara Hall may pay a $10 gate fee.

Registration is open now. Fees for adults (ages 17 and older) are: $20. Kayak rentals will
be $10.

Fees for children (ages 8-16) are: $5.00 and kayak rentals are $10.

Children 4-7 are free with adult. (Adult must accompany small children in kayaks.)

-MORE-

The money raised will go toward general operations at Tara Hall and will help us to make a difference in these young men’s’ lives, while giving them time to be kids.

“That’s what this is really all about — the boys at Tara Hall,” Morris said. “We want
everyone to come out and enjoy themselves and remember that they are helping improve
the lives of the 24 boys and giving them a second chance.
